Justice
Wake Up

A student-led society at the British School of Bucharest, exploring feminism, identity, history, and the world we live in.

What we focus on

Three ideas guide everything we do, from lunchtime chats to whole-school projects.

  1. The history of women's rights

The right to study, to vote and to earn a living was won step by step, by real people. We tell their stories, from the first women at university to the ones still opening doors today.

  2. Stereotypes, recognised and challenged

“Girls are bad at maths.” “Boys don’t cry.” Clichés like these box everyone in. We look at where they come from and how to answer them: calmly, and with facts.

  3. Projects for the whole school

Talks, displays, assemblies and this blog: educational projects made by students, for everyone at school. Got an idea? Bring it along.

Everyone is welcome

You don't need to know anything about feminism yet. Curiosity is enough.

  • Every year group
  • Girls and boys
  • Every nationality
  • No experience needed
